Keeps getting better.

It was a busy, but productive day. We were able to get all the workstations joined to the domain and mapped to the server without much problem. We’re having some issues with the NComputing stations randomly losing their mice connections, requiring constant restarts. I was able to download the latest firmware this evening and hopefully that will solve the issue in the morning.

On the bright side, we are able to use the 2 usb modems and get internet connectivity on all eight desktops at the same time. It was awesome. For an hour this morning, the lab was buzzing with students and teachers checking Facebook and googling stuff. Then, as soon as it started, the modems quit working and the mice freaked out, signalling it was time for me to get back to work.

Moses and I have had a great time this week. We think a lot a like and have the same goals for that space. The lab looks great and will function like it should once we are done.

There are quite a few (16-18?) college students here, mostly from Pepperdine. They are a lively bunch and are working with the MITS students this week painting every building on the property. They’ve been out painting every day and are making good progress. The kids come back in the afternoons covered in paint, matching the bright color of the buildings.

The Pepperdine group cooked hamburgers tonight for dinner at 8:30 and invited us. It was a fantastic alternative to what we’d been eating for dinner. They are a lively bunch and are as passionate and caring about things as you’d think college kids who spend their summers in Africa would be. They live a crazy life of travel, sevice, learning and adventure.

One of the other college-aged students is attending Texas Tech. She is blogging regularly…something I admittedly haven’t been doing. She’s a good writer and has a good eye for the way things are here. So, you can read her blog, and it’ll take some of the pressure off of me to write. http://stephguthrie.blogspot.com/

I haven’t taken a lot of pictures yet. I did get some amazing pictures in Eastleigh on Monday, but haven’t gotten my cameras out since. I’m pretty sure that will all change after the bulk of my work is finished tomorrow afternoon. Oh yeah, I’m going to shoot a weeding here on Wednesday. Two of the Pepperdine students who met here a few years ago, have come back to get married at MITS. Based on what I know of these kids, it’ll make for some very cool wedding photos.
