African Sky
Woke up to a wonderful Saturday morning. Cool breeze and a wide African sky. We are headed to Mathare vally this morning. Mathare is one of the largest slums in east Africa with over 500 thousand people living in unbelievably bad conditions. The houses are made of scrap corrugated metals, random pieces of lumber with cardboard flooring laid out on the dirt. There is no sewer system, no trash collection, no power grid or paved roads. For 500,000 people.
I hope we can do some good today. At the very least, share a smile, a handshake or a how-are-you with some of the kids there. I will have my camera and hope to get some pictures, although its a risky business. We’ll see. I really want to be able to take this story back home with me and share it with others.
